So, ASUS ROG is teaming up with Bethesda and id Software to celebrate both the 30th anniversary of ASUS graphics cards and the upcoming launch of DOOM: The Dark Ages.
What we got here is the DOOM Slayer-themed ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 and to be fair, it exist only as a bundle available through the Bethesda Gear Store where it is packed together with some cool extras of exclusive T-shirt, mouse mat, a yellow key card, an ROG-only in-game skin, and optionally the Premium Edition of the game itself.
As for the game, DOOM: The Dark Ages is a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, diving into a medieval setting that gives off dark, cinematic vibes. It runs on the new idTech8 engine capable of supporting the latest rendering techniques and whatnot, which also means that in order to win the best of both worlds in FPS and eye candy, the NVIDIA DLSS suite is always needed, and with the new RTX 50 series card, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation will be enabled for huge performance and visual upgrade.
As for its look, the green and gold design is just the classic baseline but adding the DOOM-related artwork, Shield Saw-styled fan, and a little bit of everything referencing the game’s lore, the collector’s item will be extremely limited, so be sure to get it here if you have the money to splurge on it.
